Description
This hands-on, practical short course has been developed to help you gain the skills and knowledge necessary to tackle the day-to-day maintenance requests of a home or business that you may own, rent or supervise.
Over the duration of the 8 week course you will gain skills in:
- The safe use of general hand and power tools
- Using tools and sharpening
- General timber joints and fixings
- Fit skirting and architraves
- Door repairs
- Fitting door locks, door handles and doorlatches
- General plaster board repairs
- Solid plastering repairs
- Wall and floor tiling (tiling a floor and wall)
The course will also provide you with knowledge on work health and safety requirements. The lecturer will talk with you around specific projects you may like to construct as part of the program.
Dress code: Australian standard safety boots, Australian standard safety glasses, sensible work clothes.
What to bring each week: Pen, pencil and a 5 or 8 metre tape measure.
Basic hands-on skills will be an advantage but are not required.
